This collector's medal, made in France and specially designed for Notre-Dame de Paris, features on its front the Chi-Rho Christian symbol, also known as Chrismon, the 'monogram of Christ'.

The Chi-Rho is formed by the two Greek capital letters X (chi) and P (rho), with the first letter affixed to the second. These two letters are the first letters of the word Χριστός (Christ in Greek). They are often accompanied by the first and second letters of the Greek alphabet, α (alpha) and ω (omega). Together, they encompass the entire alphabet, symbolizing the whole, the beginning, and the end.

When these letters are added together, they form the word ἄρχω, which means 'to rule, to go first, to command,' and refers to Jesus Christ, the 'founder and first leader of the nascent Christian Church.' The Chi-Rho sign, usually enclosed in a circle representing unity and divine perfection, symbolizes the Christian religion and protection.

The Chi-Rho symbol is often found on the walls of Christian religious buildings such as churches, chapels, and basilicas.
