Saint James Silver Cross
Beautiful Saint James Cross in red enameled silver.
Cross of the Apostle Saint James in silver.
This cross is very well-known. This one is made of 925° fine silver. The goldsmith has restored its historic character by adding delicate red enameling.
This is an exact replica of the cross which adorns the statue of the Apostle Saint James in the Basilica Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
Indeed, the brothers of the Order of Saint James of the Sword wore a white habit with a gold shield bearing a deep red cross with a sword with a lily-shaped handle.
This Saint James cross, also known in Spanish as "cruz de Santiago," is a heraldic emblem of cruciform design. Its most common version is a red cross resembling a sword, with the handle and arm shaped like a fleur-de-lis.
It takes its name from James the Greater and the story of his appearance at the Battle of Clavijo during the Spanish victory over the Moors in 8441. It is widely used throughout Spain and Portugal.
