Saint John Paul II: Karol Józef Wojtyła, born on May 18, 1920, in Wadowice (Poland), and died on April 2, 2005, in the Vatican, was a Polish priest, Bishop, and then Archbishop of Krakow, Cardinal, elected as the 264th Pope of the Catholic Church on October 16, 1978, taking the name John Paul II. He was canonized in 2014.
